In Jülich Research Center, I was taken care of by the members of Prof. Manja Kruger, especially Georg Hasemann who holds a Ph.D.

ユーリッヒ研究所では、Prof. Manja Krugerのグループにお世話になっています。また、そのグループのスタッフ（助教のようなポジション）のGeorgが主に世話になったりしてくれています。
Prof. KrugerとGeorgとの飲み屋での写真に彼らが写っています。

I borrowed one of Georg’s desk and stayed at his research room at Jülich Research Center. My desk is on the left and Georg’s on the right. I had a discussion, writing a research paper. 「Arc melting furnace」is the equipment to build an alloy. Next photo is Georg melting an alloy. This photo was taken during a break.

There was 「Festival in Jülich research center」on 28th Feb. Everyone was wearing costume and enjoyed the Festival. but Members of Prof. Manja Kruger did not join the festival and spent the time as normal.
I have visited Georg’s house and had a drinking session of not only german beer but also enjoyed drinking Japanese whiskey together.

私は、Georgの部屋のデスクを借りています。左側が私、右がGeorgのデスクです。ここで、ディスカッションや論文作成をしています。
「Arc melting furnace」は、合金を作成する装置です。左がGeorgが合金をとかしている時の様子、休憩中にとった写真です。

2/28には「Festival in Jülich research center」というお祭りが行われました。皆が仮装してわいわいやっていました。
ただ、Prof. Manja Krugerのグループはやらないそうです。いつも通り過ごしましました。
また、Georgの家でも飲み会をしました。ドイツビールだけでなく、まさかの日本のウイスキーを飲んでいました。

These are photos of downtown area of Jülich and guest house I have stayed in Jülich Research Center.
Next, I will introduce other cities I have visited during my stay in Germany.

ユーリッヒの街並みと研究所滞在中に住んでいたゲストハウスです。
以下、Julich出張時に立ち寄った街をご紹介します。

This is a photo I took in the morning when I arrived at Cologne Central Station. After arriving Cologne, I felt I finally came to Germany and felt motivated. Cologne Cathedral is located next to Cologne Central Station. I took a photo of Cathedral and downtown area of Cologne from rooftop of high building located opposite side of Rhine river. Köln is spelled Cologne in English, when you pronounce in Japanese-English, people will not understand you.

The photo on the right is「Gilden Kölsch」, one of the Kölsch beer made in Cologne. It is necessary to be carried by special container to put beer glass. There are 24 kinds of Kölsch beer and I have only tried 3 kinds and this one is the best so far.

初日にケルン駅に着いた時の写真です。朝に撮ったのですが、ドイツに来たなと感じ、気合が入りました。
ケルン大聖堂は、ケルン駅に隣接してます。写真は、駅の横を流れるライン川の対岸にある比較的高いビルの屋上から撮ったケルン大聖堂とケルンの街です。
ケルンの英語表記はCologne。日本語のようにケルンといっても通じません。

右写真「Gilden Kölsch」は、ケルシュというケルンで作られた地ビールの一つを撮っています。
ケルシュを運ぶ際にはコップを入れて運ぶ専用のカゴを使わなければいけません。
地ビールは全部で24種類あり、まだ3種類しか飲んでいないのですが、その中でのお気に入りです。

I have also visited Düsseldorf located north of Cologne. I have tasted world famous original Baumkuchen at an old established cafe 「Heinemann」in Düsseldorf. (Photo at bottom center) Konditorei in German means cafe also selling sweets. Heinemann is not only famous for Baumkuchen but also famous for Champagne truffles Chocolates. Königsallee is like Ginza area in Japan, there are many Luxury shops around.

A lot of Japanese companies expanded business in Düsseldorf. The last photo I took was in front of beautiful landscape of Canal of Königsallee.

ケルンの北に位置するデュッセルドルフ（Düsseldorf）では、有名なスイーツを堪能しました（写真中央下は本場のバームクーヘン）。
ドイツの老舗スイーツ店「Heinemann（ハイネマン)」、ドイツ語でKonditoreiは、「お菓子も売っているカフェ」という意味です。
バームクーヘンの他にシャンパントリュフも有名です。
ここには、高級店もあり、まるで日本の銀座のようです。

日本の企業も多く進出している事でも知られるデュッセルドルフ
最後はその中にある美しい通りとして知られるケーニヒアレー前で撮影しました。
